Please accept our cordial invitation to the opening of the exhibition Do páru. The fourth exhibition project of the Creative Workshop of Rediscovered Stories was created following the rugs woven for the Polish association Cepelia. Cepelia was founded in 1959 with the intention of presenting and selling products of folk and artistic crafts. You may remember traditional Cepelia products from the Prague shop of the Polish Cultural Centre at the corner of Wenceslas Square and Jindřiška Street. Unfortunately, the last Warsaw shop closed in 2020 and today many Cepelia artefacts have become sought-after collector's items. Famous are the hand-woven kelims, carpets made using the tapestry technique. Popular motifs for hanging kelims included flowers in vases, costumed figures, musicians or forest interiors based on designs by Maria Domańska from the 1950s to the 1970s. It was the figurative motif from Domańska's harvest festivals that became a binding compositional assignment for the realisation of smaller sewn rugs. At the same time, a few smaller woven rugs were also created. The collection of contemporary Cepelia chalumeau designed by Maria Domańska and the newly created rugs are paired into a common textile image. Separate female figures on individual textile rugs are also composed into a pair.

The textile rugs were ceremoniously embroidered and woven by: Jarmila Havelková, Libuše Jezberová, Hana Krýdová, Jana Najbrtová, Ivana Slámová, Marie Táboříková, Daniela Tužilová, Ludmila Vondrková and Dagmar Zvoníčková
