~ Invitation to the sweetest event of the year ~
In Elpida we celebrate new additions to the repertoire of knitters in our Socks from Grandma project: kiwi, melon and pineapple fruit socks. In honour of the new line of hand-knitted socks with fruit motifs, we are organizing a WORKSHOP KOMPOT in the Zmrzlina Hlína café in the Kampus Hybernská building .
From our ladies from the project Socks from Grandma, in the pleasant atmosphere of a café full of flowers, they will learnYou will learn different techniques of knitting socks, hats, scarves and now also outfits for your favourite children's toy.

The invitation has also been accepted by designer Tereza Rosalie Kladošová, from whom you can learn embroidery on sweaters. This technique has been a hit at previous workshops, so we are happy to have her involved again. Bring your battered or slightly damaged old sweaters and enhance them with Tereza's spectacular colourful embroidery with fruit motifs.
New to the workshop for the first time is crocheting tops and bikini tops. According to fashion predictions, crochet tops will be a big fashion trend in 2019, at parties in the club and on the beach by the water. That's why we reached out to PLOVE swimwear designer, Pavlina Miklasova, who has collaborated on crochet swimwear in the past with the knitter from the Socks from Grandma project. Together they will teach you how to create unique summer hand-crocheted tops and bikinis.
The event is for all generations, including children, who can knit a sweater for their favorite toy with the help of adults and knitters from Socks from Grandma.
Bring all your nearest and dearest, and join us for a fun afternoon of knitting and crocheting.
All equipment including wools will be on site, but if you have your favorite hooks, needles and wools to work with, bring them along. The event is free.

The Smooth Piecing workshops are open to those interested in knitting, beginners and advanced. Experienced knitters will teach you the basics of knitting and the special finesse of making wool socks. You can bring unwanted wool to the event that is resting in boxes at home, your grandmothers will be happy to recycle it and turn it into beautiful socks.
Elpida means hope in Greek. But it is also the name of an organization that helps seniors become a confident and respected part of society. In the spirit of the Old's Cool motto, Elpida is changing the way people look at old age - it runs the Elpida Educational and Cultural Centre for seniors fromPrague and the Senior Crisis Line, founded the brand Socks from Grandma, publishes the magazine VITAL, and organises the intergenerational Old's Cool festival. In short, she is trying to make Czech seniors lead a full & happy life.
