Conference Difference and Repetition
Prague, 24 April 2019 - Crisis intervention is a way of helping in a life situation where one's own strength is no longer sufficient. A crisis in a person's life can be a short-term thing or a long-term thing. The topic of helping those facing a long-term crisis will be the subject of the 2nd annual Senior Citizens' Helpline 800 200 007 conference in May. In addition to discussion panels, the conference will offer a series of methodological workshops, one of which promises a trip to hell with a round-trip ticket included.
A number of excellent guests have accepted the invitation, including Mr. and Mrs. Třešňák, who have been raising a daughter with a more severeAutistic Spectrum Disorder, philosopher Anna Hogenová, or Matěj Hájek, a hospital chaplain working in the mobile hospice Cesta domů.
"The world seems to be getting more and more complicated and less understandable. The need to find answers to questions and to have someone to share our worries and fears with is becoming more and more urgent. Crisis support services like the Senior Helpline are there to offer a safe space for all those in need. After all, it is not always possible for a person to get through an acute crisis well, and it then affects their entire life afterwards. We will be discussing how to recognize it well and how to help," says Klára Gramppová Janečková, deputy head of the Senior Citizens' Line and co-organizer of the conference.
Thursday 16 May 2019 - Gröbova vila in Havlíčkových sady, Prague 2
There are (at least) 3 reasons to come:
I - We'll take you on a trip to hell
The inspiration for the methodological workshop is, besides practical experience from working with long-term repeat callers, also the book C. S. Lewis' The Great Divorce of Heaven and Hell, subtitled A Fantastic Bus Trip from Hell to Heaven. A scenic ride for some, but certainly not all, and also a book by Thomas Moore, Dark Nights of the Soul. The workshop will be an opportunity to explore what interventions a worker can provide to callers who are in their own personal hell right now. You will be taken on a trip to hell (round trip ticket included) by Katherine Rich, Senior Helpline Manager, andDaniela Vodáčková, psychologist and psychotherapist with many years of experience in crisis intervention.
II - Our mirror will tell you who is the most beautiful in the world and in the country of our souls
What does the voice say about a person? What all influences its creation at any given moment? How does the voice change over the course of a lifetime? One can read a lot from the voice. It is a statement about our uniqueness, about how we are currently experiencing ourselves. The voice of another, then, can be a source of unspoken information for the therapist, just as the voice itself can be a therapeutic tool. The workshop will be led by voice therapist Ivana Vostárková, who works with the voice in both artistic and therapeutic fields.
III - Trying to name the crisis in the context of a changing world
What is the difference between understanding a thing and information about a thing? What are digital and subject matter thinking and their relevance to understanding today? Today and the problem of truth, today and the meaning of life from the point of view of young and older individuals will be discussed by popular philosopher and phenomenologist Anna Hogen.
The number of places at the conference is limited, but for those who cannot make it, we are preparing a publication that will address the topic of long-term and latent crisis. It will include the most important outcomes of the conference.
The conference is organised by the Senior Citizens' Helpline 800 200 007, run by Elpida.
