The Senior Citizen Line is not just a handset

Hello, well... hello from Elpida :)

We would like to introduce you to our Senior Crisis Line and offer you materials that can help you in your work and meetings with seniors 👇

📞Se nior Helpline, hello...

If you hear this phrase, dial 800 200 007 any day between 8am and 8pm. No one in particular will introduce themselves to you. Why? It creates an anonymous and confidential space to share your worries and black thoughts. You can ask for help, practical advice or encouragement. On the other side sits staff with training in crisis intervention and an overview of senior issues.

We don't overlook topics

As part of the Don't Die Today campaign, we literally took the topic of senior suicide prevention to the streets. People age 65+ are the second most at-risk population in terms of suicidal behavior, especially in terms of completed suicides.

Help you can always turn to

The Senior Helpline team also produces support and specialist materials. Some of these are also aimed at the general public. You never know when they will come in handy. You can find them all here.

We educate and organise professional conferences

We currently offer educational seminars and courses in the areas of communicating with seniors, providing telephone crisis intervention, and caring for a person with dementia. It is possible to take advantage of courses accredited by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs or to arrange a tailor-made course. In addition to educational activities, we also offer supervision or debriefing.

Something wrong? Consider your strengths and options

🆘So mething Happened is our information portal that helps seniors or their loved ones navigate the system of help available if they find themselves in an unexpected situation. Whether it's domestic violence, needing to care for a loved one or a deteriorating health condition. Seeking professional help early on increases the chances of success.

Did you know that our helpline is here for carers too?

We cover the topic of caring for loved ones in an episode of our podcast. In it, we talk about both home care and institutional care. We give advice on how to communicate with those involved and also how not to burn out. You can find the Elpida podcast on all podcast apps.

Tell your loved ones about the Senior Line.

The call is free thanks to the support of the O2 Foundation.
