Creative life begins at 60
At Elpida, we like to say that life begins at 60. And retirement is a great opportunity to start a new creative activity, which is why we are starting two new regular creative workshops at the Elpida Centre in September:
Creative Writing Course & YouTubing Course
Under the guidance of writer Markéta Lukášková, you'll delve into the recesses of your own imagination and the power of words. In the second one, you will soon discover that thanks to new technologies, under the guidance of Dušan, you will quite easily become a director, cameraman, presenter, editor in one person, in short, a YouTuber.
We are happy that both workshops are prepared in cooperation with young people who not only excel in their fieldsbut at the same time, they are able to enthuse the older grades with their empathetic teaching style. Don't miss the first tastings in the summer:

Creative writing course with writer Markéta Lukášková
The Creative Writing Workshop is designed for all those who like to write andhave not dared to write their own short story or a longer story, but would like to give it a try.
You will learn how to build a story, how to surprise the reader, develop your own imagination and how to make writing an enjoyable leisure activity. But there's more to creative writing: you'll get to know the craft of writing better and broaden your literary horizons. You will get rid of stereotypes and refresh your thinking. You will improve your communication skills and develop your creativity, imagination and vocabulary. And you'll get to know yourself better.
Markéta's creative writing course starts on 24 September and will take place every 14 days, every Monday 12:30-14:00 at the Elpida Centre in Pankrác (Na Strži 40).
The lecturer Markéta Lukášková is a Czech journalist and writer originally from České Budějovice, who has worked for magazines such as Reflex and Týden. Last year, she published her debut book Salmon in a Pool, which is now being made into a film and an audiobook. She is currently writing her second book, devoting herself to exercise and her dog Panda.
YouTubing course with Dusan: YouTuber at 60
Learn how to make short videos on your mobile phone. The technologies available to us today are comparable in their benefits to the invention of writing, the printing press or even television broadcasting. Today, each of us can quite easily become a director, cameraman, presenter, editor in one person, in short a YouTuber, vlogger with literally unlimited viewership of creations. Each of you can learn how to shoot nice videos on your mobile phone, edit them and share them with a wider audience. If you don't crave popularity, you can film for your family and provide them with a unique memory. We will try to understand what an extraordinary time we live in thanks to technology and that each of us can leave our mark on the history of mankind. It doesn't matter if you live in a housing estate or in a secluded forest. Once you have the internet, you become part of a huge community of people like never before in history.
In this workshop we will not only show why YouTube is so special, but also how to work with easily accessible technology. We'll talk about copyright. We'll show successful and intimidating examples of how to do it or not do it. We'll introduce the Czech and international YouTuber scene. And even if you don't start filming, you'll be able to work well with YouTube and get a whole new source of information and experience. All this in a fun and engaging way, the way Dušan knows how.
Dušan starts the course on 27th September and it will be held every 14 days on Thursdays 15:30-17:30 at the Elpida Centre in Pankrác (Na Strži 40).
Singer-songwriter, vlogger, presenter and lecturer Dušan Bitala, who goes by the name DUŠAN IS HERE OR WHEN, will open the door to the world of YouTube and working with small cameras and mobile phones.
