Get tangled up with grandma's socks

~ regular knitting class with the ladies from the Sock from Grandma project ~

We invite you to a knitting workshop led by Marie Čížková and Marie Horynová, our experienced knitters from the Socks from Grandma project.

Who is the workshop for?

✣✣✣✣ Are you starting to knit? We'll lend you needles, donate unwanted balls that you can give new life to, and teach you the basics.

✣✣✣✣ Got a project unraveling at home and want some advice or style tweaks? Just come in.

✣✣✣ Are you an experienced knitter looking for company or would you like to exchange experiences with others and learn something new from them? We look forward to hearing from you.

Our fabulous knitters will be happy to pass on their experience, share traditional techniques with you, as well as give you tips on the finer points.

When and where?

The course takes place every Thursday from 14.15 to 16.15 at the Elpida Centre in Prague's Smichov district, just a few steps from the Anděl metro station (Na Bělidle 34), in the popular language classroom where we will help you untangle tangled balls and tongues every week. Every second Monday from 13.30 to 15.30, the workshop takes place in our Holešovice branch Přístav 7.*

The course is free of charge, so join us.

✣✣✣ Can't make it to the beginning? Feel free to join later. ✣✣✣ Don't have time for a regular class? Don't be afraid to come once.

All equipment including wools will be on site, but if you have your favorite hooks, needles and wools you want to work with, bring them along.

P.S. We also have a small cafe in Elpida where you can get coffee, lemonade and maybe even a linen round.

*This type of class is designed as a meeting platform for our current knitters, seniors andseniors, moms and dads on maternity leave, students... We are aware that we cannot accommodate everyone. For those working people who need afternoon or weekend dates, then we hold knitting workshops called Smooth Piecing twice a year. As always, we will keep you informed of the next one in due course.

Elpida means hope in Greek. But it is also the name of an organisation that helps seniors become a confident and respected part of society. In the spirit of the Old's Cool motto, Elpida is changing the way people look at old age - it runs the Elpida Educational and Cultural Centre for seniors fromPrague and the Senior Crisis Line, founded the brand Socks from Grandma, publishes the magazine VITAL, and organises the intergenerational Old's Cool festival. In short, she is trying to make Czech seniors lead a full & happy life.
